grandma, meet the boyfriend

i have a rather odd obsession with my boyfriend's sweaters. cardigans from old navy to be more specific. which i find strange because i'm not a big old navy shopper and i pretty much despise what is usually considered the traditional women's cardigan. as i am sure you guessed, this is one i've borrowed from him. i really love it paired with my grandmother's old nightgown from the 50s. she giggled when i told her i would wear it as a dress in nyc. she'd probably laugh even harder if i told her i wanted to wear it with a men's sweater!

outerwear

i find myself wearing this jacket/scarf/glove combo at least three times a week. it's only fair that my outerwear makes an appearance on the blog...

and because you should know that most of the time i look like a huge dork...

variations on a theme

occasionally i get stuck on certain color combinations and find myself wearing variations on the same color themes for days at a time. in the beginning of spring it was blue, black, and gray which lasted for what seemed like almost a month. a week back it was red, white, and blue which is so painfully prevalent here, but thankfully, didn't last half as long.

dress you up

after wearing dresses non-stop for the past four months I can honestly say I'm sick and tired of them. however, when i open my closet door i can't help but run my fingers over this one (as i alternately frown in dismay at the rest). the pleats are so crisp and the gathering at the waist is complete perfection.

girls who are boys, who like boys to be girls

speaking of masculine clothing, as of late, i kind of have a things for wearing men's ties. i find wearing them to be very sexy and even a little empowering.

jumping on the lace bandwagon

inspired by the prada fall 2008 show and all of the bloggers who have experimented with this look before me, i knew i just had to give it a go too.

wishing the summer away

towards the end of august I'm always over-eager for fall to begin. maybe it's the thick, glossy autumn magazines or perhaps the anticipation of layering. this year one thing's for sure- I'm itching to break out my new vintage coats!

you can leave your hat on

Much like Miss Havisham's Satis House, my grandmother's home in New England has been untouched for the last sixty years. Four walk-in closets hold all of the clothing she's owned since 1940. As the only grandchild (and the only person tiny enough to fit into her old clothes) I have been given permission to take anything that my heart desires. These two hats were some of the numerous items that found their way into my suitcase the last time I was visiting.
