the long and short of it
this skirt use to be about two feet longer- it looked scary and more than a little amish. jessie and i found it thrifting together and she was savy enough to tell me to take it home. after a good wash and a trip to the tailor's it's my all time favorite skirt. the pockets, the color, and the pleats are all perfection.

that skirt is so lovely, and i must slightly enviously admit that it is just what i have been looking for lately! the pockets (and pleats, actually) are the absolute best thing, they give it such a structured appeal, very like the new Chanel silhouettes on the Autumn/Winter catwalk. perfect paired with a grey tee, as you demonstrate. ugh, so lovely, i'm green with envy! ha ha :) was it expensive to have it adjusted? i've never taken a piece to a seamstres before, but definitely plan to start, as items that fit properly always look so good.
thank oldoldfashioned, I'm sure that you will find one too! It was actually only $8 to have it fixed (almost the price of the skirt!). Jessie and I have been thinking about doing a post regarding the importance of making sure your vintage clothing fits you properly.
